Urban Farming's Vertical Gardens - A Must See downtown!
As you know, Urban Farming, a 503(c) nonprofit is working with us at Nora Sterry, to create an after-school sustainability project. Here is an example of what they are currently focused on in our great city of Los Angeles. A hint of what's to come to the Nora Sterry school community as we become a sustainable green school, educating our students and their families to become global citizens who understand the concept of sustainability and personal responsibility as a part of the global community.

Urban Farming Collaborates with LAUSD Beyond the Bell!
Great news for students who want to participate in gardening and ecoliteracy hands-on projects at Nora Sterry Elementary School over the summer!
Beginning July 7th, 2008 and continuing until August 1, students can come to campus, eat free lunch and participate in the Urban Farming Program. The gardening activities and the waste management activities will take place afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30 on most days.
We hope to maintain the school vegetable and fruit gardens as well as start seedlings for planting in the Fall. We also hope to build the 6 raised beds for the Growing Great Pilot Project beginning in the Fall.
Hope to see you at school this summer, helping to maintain and expand our school gardening program!
